Switzerland amends air transport ordinance
At its meeting on 12 October 2022, the Swiss federal council adopted the partial revision of the air transport ordinance which aims at increasing safety in the transport of dangerous goods such as radioactive material, flammable liquids, fireworks, pistols, rat poison or mercury.
For example, air transport and postal companies must apply for approval by the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (Foca) for the training programmes they conduct for their staff who are handling consignments that are among the dangerous goods listed by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (Icao).
In addition, companies shipping dangerous goods will be required to sign a declaration to this effect in future. The changes will come into force on 1 January 2023. (ah)
