Switzerland adopts EU law for professional drivers
From 1 March 2022, Switzerland will adapt a number of its regulations on the initial and further training of professional drivers to EU law. The change comes after the EU amended its legislation in this area in May 2020.
With the amendments, the Swiss Federal Council not only aims to update the content of initial and continuing training in the chauffeur licensing ordinance, but also to improve road safety, promote environmentally friendly driving and resolve uncertainties in the interpretation of exemptions from the licence requirement. Another goal is to achieve legal certainty and equal conditions in cross-border transport, the Federal Council added. (ben)
