Swiss Post keeps on expanding
The next coups have been completed. On 1 January Swiss Post acquired the company Stella Brandenberger Transport, based in Pratteln near Basel (Switzerland). The family business employs almost 80 people and specialises in domestic transport for overseas containers.
In addition, Swiss Post has further strengthened its presence in southern Germany. Also on 1 January it took over the Aldingen-based freight forwarder Hugger; this firm, in turn, has more than 200 employees and focuses on road freight transport.
At the same time Swiss Post acquired the shares of the enterprise Logistic Center Villingen, based in Villingen-Schwenningen (southern Germany), a company with twelve employees that specialises in warehousing services.
Swiss Post’s strategy is evident. It has funds of about CHF 1.5 billion earmarked for investment in mergers and acquisitions through to 2030. In 2021 alone, Swiss Post had planned to spend CHF 230 million on acquisitions.
A Swiss Post document has revealed that about twenty unidentified companies are set to become subject to a purchase process, or are in preparation for one. The group has always underlined that it’s also aiming for international businesses. (sh)
