Swiss manufacturer wins big UK deal
Swiss manufacturer Wascosa has signed a significant wagon lease contract with Network Rail, the infrastructure manager of Britain's rail network.
Under the lease, Wascosa will provide 570 wagons, which will be built by Greenbrier Europe and serviced in partnership with rail transport operator GB Railfreight, in the framework of a ten-year contract.
In addition to the 'Falcon' (open freight wagons) and JNA vehicles, which it rents out to transport bulk ballasts for construction sites, Wascosa also supplies Network Rail with modular rail cars to carry prefabricated track panels, sleepers, switches, rails and loose materials. (ben)
