Swiss forwarder makes history with green HGV
As one of only seven Swiss companies, freight forwarder Murpf will drive an HGV with eco-friendly hydrogen propulsion from today, Wednesday, 11 November 2020. The innovation is the result of cooperation between Hyundai and the Förderverein H2 Mobilität, with the aim of ushering in an era of more sustainability in heavy goods traffic.
At the beginning of October, Hyundai handed over to the carrier the keys of the "XCIENT Fuel Cell", the world's first mass-produced hydrogen fuel-cell truck. Thanks to its electric engine, the HGV is not only eco-friendly but also virtually silent.
Murpf now wants to put the first hydrogen fuel-cell truck in its fleet "to the acid test". Next year, the trailer will deliver more than 25 t of fresh products a day in Switzerland and cover more than 100,000 km. (ben)
