Swiss celebrates 20th anniversary
Swiss International Air Lines (Swiss) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. In the 20 years since its foundation, Swiss has performed 2.8 million flights of an aggregate distance of 3.8 billion km, or 95,000 times around the world. These flights have transported 5.6 million t of cargo, the equivalent in weight of some 560 Eiffel Towers.
Swiss is now planning to offer its customers five new European destinations from Zurich: from the end of March onwards the airline will newly serve Nantes in Western France, Sofia (Bulgaria), Vilnius (Lithuania) and Bologna, the capital of Northern Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region.
