Swedish Club adds iceberg alerts to Telp system
The Swedish Club has introduced a new seasonal ‘Iceberg Advisory’ feature to its Trade Enabling Loss Prevention platform (Telp).
The system enhances navigational safety by alerting vessels entering zones with high concentrations of icebergs and sea ice. Supported by two real-time ice data services, the feature helps crews avoid growlers and other hard-to-detect ice formations. Telp’s geo-fenced alert zones cover key regions such as the Gulf and the St Lawrence river, where ice navigation is often unavoidable.
“Telp’s ‘Iceberg Advisory’ feature ensures that vessels receive relevant information at the right time,” said loss-prevention manager Martti Simojoki. The new feature is automatically available to all Telp users and complements Telp’s existing alerts on weather, bunkers and pilotage risks. (ah)
