Svitzer for Suez
The towage operator Svitzer recently inked a ten-year agreement with the Egyptian port of Suez. The company will provide two newly built 70T ASD tugs for supporting the operations in Port Said and the Suez Canal.
Svitzer has been operating in Egypt since 2005 for Egyptian LNG in Idku, with an Egyptian set-up and seven vessels (four ASD tugs, two line boats, and one pilot boat). Its presence in Egypt allows for a smooth expansion into new businesses, supporting the country’s development and growth plans in a regional and global context.
The investment into two newly built tugs is expected to be implemented immediately after signing the contract with SCA, as the contract enters into effect within three and a half months from signing. (cd)
