Support for ICS2 implementation
On 1 March the EU Customs Safety and Security System ICS2 was launched for the air cargo industry. In an extended transition period that lasts until 30 June 2023, airlines have time to comply with the new procedure.
Dakosy authorised signatory Dirk Gladiator advised airfreight forwarders to “use this period to ensure that they can provide the airlines with the required data.” This includes the goods number and the complete address of both the original sender and the final recipient.
With ICS2, the EU has introduced a unified and centralised procedure for risk analysis of goods from third countries, which starts even before the goods are loaded in the exporting country.
As soon as an airline participates in the new procedure, the forwarder must be able to provide the airline with the information required for the ICS2 notification. Otherwise, the goods will not be loaded. (cj)
