Subsidies for services and not for companies
The revision of its freight transport act and temporary bridging finance for single wagonload transport are to modernise the country’s freight transport sector and promote multimodal services, said transport minister Albert Rösti at the general assembly of the Swiss Shippers’ Association (VAP) yesterday, Tuesday, 27 August.
The new framework conditions are designed to be independent of the operator, meaning that they will subsidise the services and not the companies.
The digital automatic coupling (DAK), which, according to Rösti, the government is supporting with CHF 180 million, is another part of the modernisation strategy. (ben)
