Study on climate-friendly synthetic-fuel launched

Dutch inland haulier Kleijn Transport and UK-based Ocean Network Express (ONE) have started a joint pilot study based on eco-friendly hydro-treated vegetable oil fuel (HVO).

HVO is made of 100% renewable raw materials such as vegetable oils, animal oils and fats and reduces CO2 greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90%. The synthetic fuel can be used as a direct replacement for regular diesel and is relatively easy to adopt in most modern Euro-6 norm road trucks without the need to replace or modify engines.

The added benefit of HVO is the limited adverse impact on engine filters as commonly experienced when using regular blended BIO-diesel. (ben)
