Study for an e-fuel supply chain
MOL, Itochu, HIF, and JFE Steel have partnered to explore the feasibility of a comprehensive supply chain for synthetic fuel and CO2 marine transport using green hydrogen.
The study will first examine the use of e-fuel at JFE Steel and then cover CO2 capture in Japan, its shipment to Australia, production and storage of e-fuel derived from CO2, and the establishment of an export supply chain for e-fuel.
E-fuel, which is produced by synthesising hydrogen from renewable sources and CO2, can be used in existing infrastructure and is seen as an early decarbonisation measure. (pb)
