STS cranes for Misurata Free Zone
At last week's TOC Europe event in Rotterdam, Misurata Free Zone, one of Libya’s major ports, and HPC Hamburg Port Consulting signed a contract covering procurement assistance and construction supervision of three ship-to-shore container gantry cranes (STS).
The partners agreed to extend the cooperation also to other fields of port development. The STS container cranes will be used to improve quay productivity and prepare for an anticipated future growth in cargo volumes.
Abdulmoula Abolwaifa, general manager of the Port at Misurata Free Zone: "These advanced cranes will enhance our operational capabilities and enable us to meet the growing demands of international trade."
Port of Misurata's position will be strengthened as a major gateway port for international trade along the north coast of Africa. (lh)
