Strengthening ties with Chinese automakers

Sallaum Lines is adapting to increased vehicle imports from Chinese OEMs with significant investments in fleet expansion, infrastructure, and local operations. The company has ordered six dual-fuel LNG pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels, each with

a capacity of 7,400–7,500 ceu, to enhance transport capacity and reduce CO2 emissions by 25% or more. Sallaum has also established an office in China to strengthen partnerships with OEMs and provide tailored logistics solutions. At its Antwerp-Bruges terminal, the phased construction of a 47,000 sqm multistorey car park will expand capacity to 17,000 units, addressing space constraints.

These expansions include comprehensive terminal services like pre-delivery inspection (PDI) and project cargo handling, ensuring seamless integration with multimodal transport. With these strategic steps, Sallaum Lines aims to meet evolving automotive logistics needs and support efficient vehicle imports while fostering sustainability. (pb)
