Strengthening inland navigation
Duisburg-based Haeger & Schmidt Logistics (HSL) has reinforced its inland shipping business. The new vessels will be deployed in the company's Container Allianz Niederrhein (CAN), a pool for container transports that HSL runs in cooperation with its partners European Gateway Services and Contargo Waterway Logistics. The logistics service provider has concluded a long-term contract with the Dutch shipping company Delfia Inland Shipping for this purpose.
The inland container vessels will transport cargo between the western ports and various inland ports on the Rhine. The service was launched at the beginning of February 2023.
The units to be deployed on this route are the “MS Alfa Grande” (398 teu), the “MS Alfa Bianco” and the “MS Alfa Menta”, each with 336 teu.
The first two ships will ply the Lower Rhine between Neuss, Duisburg, Emmerich, Antwerp and Rotterdam. The “MS Alfa Menta” will take over the route between Andernach and Antwerp as well as other stops on the Middle and Lower Rhine. (sh)
