Strengthening a site in Shenzhen
FedEx Express has upgraded its facility in Shenzhen, aiming to improve import operations at the gateway to Southern China.
Located at Shenzhen Baoan International Airport, the hub serves as one of FedEx’s four international gateways in China. It mostly handles import and export operations for the South and the Southwest of the country. Shenzhen is a major economic centre due to its proximity to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and its established cross-border e-commerce.
With the recent upgrades, the facility now features an AI-based warehouse management system and an additional sorting belt. Its footprint has been expanded to 4,500 sqm, increasing freight handling capacity by 50%. Robert Chu, vice president, operations, FedEx China: “The expanded gateway will further optimise our customs clearance process in Shenzhen and Southern China.” (mk)
