Stihl's central warehouse operational
Stihl, a manufacturer of gardening tools and equipment, has officially inaugurated its new central warehouse in Voelklingen, Germany. The logistics site was built by property developer Dietz as the investor. The facility is operated by Hellmann and covers a total area of approximately 58,000 sqm, including around 3,000 sqm of mezzanine space and 1,600 sqm of office space.
Battery products and all Stihl tools manufactured at the Tyrol production site in Austria are stored at the new logistics and distribution hub, from where they are delivered to all the shipper's sales companies and dealers worldwide - mainly in Germany, France, and the Benelux countries.
Products ordered directly from Stihl's own online store are also supplied from Voelklingen. While the new hub handled its first deliveries in August of this year, the warehouse will be fully operational from January 2023. Stihl will invest more than EUR 150 million in the central warehouse during the agreed contract period until 2032. (sh)
