Stena RoRo enhances fleet with Danish ship
Stena RoRo has acquired the ro-ro vessel ‘Giuseppe Lucchesi’ and renamed it the ‘Stena Shipper’, thus expanding its fleet and market presence. The vessel was built in 2012 at Denmark’s Odense yard and is 193 m long and can carry 3,663 lane metres of rolling cargo on four decks. It sails at speeds of up to 21 knots, with low fuel consumption and favourable environmental characteristics.
The ship will fly the Danish flag and operate on the Rades–Marseille route, under a contract with the Tunisian shipping company Cotunav, which Stena acquired from the Compagnia Italiana di Navigazione (Cin). The move is in line with Stena RoRo’s strategy of fleet expansion and market fortification. (pb)
