Stena Line to relocate at Port of Gothenburg
Gothenburg Port Authority and Stena Line have signed a 25-year agreement to enable the shipping company to relocate its operations to Arendal, a part of Port of Gothenburg, Scandinavia’s largest port. The move “is a logical step that gives us synergies and strengthened opportunities to continue developing the whole port in line with our sustainability ambitions,” says Elvir Dzanic, CEO of the Gothenburg Port Authority.
A new terminal will be built in Arendal, on the 108,000 sqm area acquired by the Gothenburg Port Authority. Niclas Mårtensson, CEO of Stena Line, “in Arendal, we will be able to expand while helping Gothenburg develop in a sustainable direction.”
The project is part of Stena Line’s goal to reduce its carbon footprint: the deployment of new sustainable fuels for its fleet will support the transition. (lh)
