Speeding up customs for pressing needs
At Baltimore airport (BWI) last Sunday, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) expedited import clearances of big rubber stopper presses.
The machines, imported by West Pharmaceuticals Services from Germany and destined for its facility in the USA, support the emergency expansion of production capacity of rubber stoppers used in the containment of injectable medications.
According to the shipper, these stoppers are necessary components in the development and distribution of medications, vaccines and therapeutics produced by their pharmaceutical industry customers and used in the fight against Covid-19.
Casey Durst, director field operations for CBP’s Baltimore field office: "CBP remains committed to facilitating legitimate international trade that helps sustain our nation’s economic vitality and security." (ah)
