Special transport to Southern Italy
The activities of the industry - including project logistics - continue in Italy. The shipping company Grimaldi Group has been entrusted with the transportation from Spain to Italy of new wagons that will enhance the Naples metro fleet.
The first six units recently arrived in the port of Naples on board the ro-ro vessel Eurocargo Roma, which had left from the Spanish port of Sagunto. The handling of the first wagons was carried out with the use of special platforms equipped with rails supplied by Multitrade, the freight forwarding company designated for the management of the project. The length of the three types of wagons was up to 18.55 m, and their weight of each ranged from 28 to 30 t.
All 114 wagons, ordered from the Basque company CAF - Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles - will be transported from Spain on board Grimaldi vessels, as part of a project that will last until March 2022. "Being chosen for such important and at the same time complex transport services always makes us proud," commented Guido Grimaldi, corporate short sea shipping commercial director of the Neapolitan shipowning group.
