"Special flight division" with "special cargo"
"Human remains" are sensitive cargo, and long-haul transports are usually carried out by aircraft. With the help of Flightradar 24, our colleagues at The Moscow Times have observed that in the war that Russia has been waging in Ukraine as a so-called "special military operation" for more than a year, aircraft from Russia's special aviation division are regularly called upon to carry out these flights. This is because their visits to Russian regions are often followed by reports of the burial of fallen soldiers in Ukraine.
Exactly one year ago today, on 2 March 2022, this special flight squadron carried the body of the first resident of the Republic of Tatarstan, Ilnur Sibgatullin, from Belgorod to Begishevo. The unloading of the body and the tail number of the aircraft - RA-65911 - were captured on a video taken by local state media. (ah)
