Special fleet for bitumen transports
UK-based Puma has extended its bitumen logistics contract with Hoyer for another five years. Under this agreement, the German dangerous goods specialist is responsible for loading and unloading at customer sites, planning capacity utilisation and scheduling drivers and fleet.
The product, which is loaded at a temperature of roughly 170°C, requires special equipment that keeps the temperature stable throughout the journey.
The bitumen is delivered by drivers who are specially trained to handle this dangerous material. For this contract, Hoyer deploys lightweight road tankers and lightweight ancillary equipment, which reduces the number of transports, costs and emissions. (ben)
