Spar sets up in Croatia
Spar Austria has built its largest logistics hub in Klinča Sela (Croatia), backing the venture with EUR 110 million.
Boosting its capacity to 100,000 pallet positions, the group is looking to expand its reach and logistics capabilities in Croatia, where it has been active for just under 20 years. It now operates at 140 locations in the country, covering most major cities.
The Klinča Sela hub features 170 loading ramps and 75,000 sqm of space with three halls: one for dry goods, one for temperature-control and the third for office and social spaces. Smart technology for cool storage as well as daylight sensors help to reduce energy consumption. Over 500 employees are already working at the site which Spar completed within 20 months. (mk)
