Span Alaska announces leadership transition
Span Alaska Transportation, a freight forwarder that is based in Auburn WA and offers transport services all over Alaska, has announced that Tom Souply will retire as president and assume a strategic development role as executive vice president for corporate development on 1 April.
Souply began his career in transportation more than 35 years ago, joining Span Alaska in 2010 as COO and being promoted to president in 2013, as the first president recruited from outside the family-owned business. He managed the acquisition of Pacific Alaska Freightways in 2015 and Span Alaska’s sale to Matson Logistics in 2016.
EVP Michael Johnson will succeed him. When he joined Span Alaska in 2017 he had spent 27 years in operational leadership positions with YRC Freight/Roadway and two years in sales leadership with Reddaway. Upon joining he became, with Souply, “instrumental in the planning and building of Span Alaska’s Anchorage operations and administration service centre.” (amh)
