South Carolina Ports' COO "woman of the year"
Barbara Melvin, COO of the South Carolina State Ports Authority, was named the 2021 SCMA woman of the year at a virtual awards presentation held during the third annual Palmetto women’s manufacturing forum hosted by the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA).
The annual award was created to honour outstanding contributions to the state’s manufacturing industry and recognise the impact of female leaders in this field.
Over the past 23 years, Melvin has overseen growth and infrastructure projects at South Carolina Ports, including the Charleston harbour deepening project, which will give South Carolina the deepest harbour on the East Coast at 15.8 m. (amh)
