Solution to improve container use
The Azerbaijani transport company ADY Container recently carried out a new intermodal transport from Azerbaidjan to China for aluminium producer Azeraliumium using the Trans-Caspian transport route. The block train runs from Ganja to Pinguyan and transports 50 forty feet containers.
The cargo, green (unprocessed) petroleum coke, was first shipped from the port of Alat in Azerbaijan to the port of Aktau in Kazakhstan by vessel and then carried by train from Ganja through Kazakhstan to Pingyuan in China.
Initially, the containers had been used to import baked carbon anodes from China; they were then loaded with the crude petroleum coke and sent back to China for processing, ensuring an efficient use of the containers. (ben)
