Solar-powered logistics centre in Dubai
DB Schenker has opened its first fully solar-powered logistics centre in Dubai (UAE). The 33,000 sqm distribution hub DLC II is located on the Dubai South logistics premises, in immediate proximity to the Al Maktoum International Airport. It serves as a key regional logistics hub for international customers, including the consumer goods company Unilever, which is DB Schenker’s biggest partner in the area.
The temperature-controlled facility offers space for 90,000 Euro pallets and has a 3,000 sqm mezzanine floor for value-added services. Its logistics portfolio comprises the storage of hazardous materials, value-added services, distribution and deliveries as well as sea freight and air freight.
With the inauguration of the DLC II hub, the second of three phases in the expansion of contract logistics in Dubai has been completed. By 2021, DB Schenker will have created logistics spaces spanning a total of 80,000 sqm. (mw)
