Solar power for electric waste collectors
The Retripa Group, a waste disposal company based in Western Switzerland, recently took delivery of three electric three-axle E-Tech D Wide 6x2 Renault trucks. A fourth and a fifth, one of them a four-axle vehicle, will be added shortly.
The new trucks will be used for refuse collection and will be powered by electricity from solar cells that the company has installed on its roofs. The cells produce 655,000 kWh of electrical energy per year, of which Retripa requires around 43% for its own use.
Two 150 kWh charging stations are currently available on the company’s premises. The new trucks have four 94 kWh batteries each. (ben)
