Solar cells to power fleet
The German transport company Duvenbeck is going to test the novel solar cell sets developed by the Scandinavian manufacturer Green Energy. The fleet-wide installation of the solar cells will be preceded by a trial phase with extensive data evaluation.
The trucking company hopes that using solar cell technology developed specifically for vehicles will help reduce its fleet's CO2 emissions and improve profitability.
Batteries are a truck’s weak point. On the one hand, more and more components require electricity - from the electrically adjustable driver's seat to the refrigerator and the television – putting a strain on the battery, and, on the other hand, the generator used to charge the batteries needs power from the drive engine.
