Single waybill for journey from China to Europe
By using a single CIM/SMGS waybill in a multimodal, transcontinental transport by rail and sea for the first time, Russian UTLC ERA has found a new way to reduce transit times and increase transport volumes on the new Silk Road.
Moreover, this new CIM/SMGS waybill is being used for the first time not only for two internationally different legal systems but also for two different modes of transport.
The first train running under the single waybill left X’ian in China to arrive in Kaliningrad in Russia, where the goods were unloaded to the ferry and shipped along a short sea route to the port of Mukran in Germany, where the container wagons’ journey continued by rail to Hamburg. (ben)
