Singapore banks on vaccination
The Port of Singapore will supply the Covid-19 vaccine to more than 10,000 of its maritime workers before the end of January, which is part of the country's national vaccination plan (sea and air vaccination exercise, Save). Among these are dock workers, pilots, cargo officers, maritime inspectors and superintendents who are required to work aboard ships in Singapore.
According to the Singapore Maritime and Port Authority (MPA), those who are currently on the list for routine analysis every seven days will be evaluated every 14 days and those who are currently on the list every 14 days will be evaluated once a month.
The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) recently launched a campaign for governments to include seafarers and other workers in the maritime sector into the priority groups for vaccination. (cd)
