Sigrid Nikutta to lead DB Cargo
The supervisory board of Deutsche Bahn (DB) has approved the restructuring of its management board. Sigrid Nikutta, CEO of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), Germany’s largest local public transport company, will be joining DB’s managing board. DB’s supervisory board appointed Nikutta at an extraordinary meeting.
Nikutta, who holds a doctorate in psychology, will assume the newly created position of member of the board responsible for freight transport on 1 January 2020. She will also head DB’s freight business as CEO of DB Cargo in Mainz.
Nikutta worked for today’s DB Cargo, which then traded under the name of DB Schenker Rail Deutschland, from 2001 to 2010. One of her main responsibilities was block train transport, and she also served on the board of DB Schenker Rail Polska. (mw)
