Shuttle connects Bari and Rotterdam in 72 hours
A shuttle now runs directly between Rotterdam and Bari, in southern Italy. The train, operated by GTS, takes 72 hours to complete the trip. The new train extends the Italian rail operator GTS’s services between Bari and Segrate, near Milan, and Piacenza, and is also an indirect rail connection to the Dutch port of Rotterdam.
GTS operates 40 national intermodal trains per week on Adriatic routes and 20 more on Tyrrhenian routes. Internationally, GTS connects Italy with the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany with more than 40 trains a week.
The company's fleet consists of 23 locomotives, 400 railway wagons and almost 3,000 45 ft containers. (ben)
