Short line railroad expands in Ohio

Under a long-term lease of rail lines in the Powhatan Point, Ohio area (USA), Transtar’s East Ohio Valley Railway (EOVR), is adding another 30 km to its 20 km rail network. EOVR, which is part of Transtar, will begin operations on the new routes on 1 June 2024.

The expanded operation will support the manufacturing and industrial development in the region, improve transit times, and enhance rail connectivity to the national rail network, Transtar said.

EOVR’s network interchanges with Norfolk Southern and provides rail switching services for the Long Ridge Energy Terminal and the Hannibal Industrial Park located in Hannibal, Ohio. Transtar owns six short lines in the USA. (ben)
