Short line rail network adds 210 km

US short line railroads operator R. J. Corman has purchased two railroad branches from Norfolk Southern, creating a new company to be called Knoxville and Cumberland Gap Railroad (KXCG). KXCG will have interchange cars in Norfolk Southern’s Sevier Yard.

This acquisition will add over 210 km to the more than 1,200 km operated by R. J. Corman Railroad. The closing of the deal is subject to customary regulatory approvals, and R. J. Corman is expected to take over operations before the end of February 2022.

R. J. Corman Railroad operates seventeen short line railroads in eleven US states. The company is a subsidiary of R. J. Corman Railroad Group, which provides a broad range of services to the railroad industry in USA. (ben)
