Shopify Canada in the black with record Q3
The wave of e-commerce has also advanced the business of Shopify, a proprietary e-commerce platform for online stores and retail point-of-sale systems.
In Q3/2020, the Ottawa-based company, which keeps its books in USD currency, posted revenues of USD 767.4 million, a significant leap of 96% compared to the same period last year (USD 390.5). Shopify's earnings were at USD 191.1 million, compared to a loss of USD 72.8 million in Q3/2019.
Harley Finkelstein, who just became president in September, commented: “We believe these changes in the landscape will endure as consumers’ new shopping behaviours stick and become the new normal.” (sh)
