Shipper adopts Geodis' carbon reduction programme
The Danish group Grundfos, a major water technology company, has decided to change its global freight policy.
Its annual amount of 20,000 containers will now be shipped in a more sustainable manner by the use of the Geodis sustainable fuel programme which aims to replace fossil fuels with alternative and renewable fuels.
These fuels, provided by Geodis, are supplied by the Dutch company Good Shipping and result in a 90% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions compared to regular fossil fuels.
The Good Shipping marine fuel is made from waste materials, such as used cooking oil. Grundfos will now procure its sustainable marine fuel via Geodis. (sh)
