'Shift2030' campaigns for railfreight

A new initiative has been founded to support Europe’s railfreight sector. The aim of ‘Shift2030’ is to bring together all players involved in efforts to increase the modal shift of cargo from the roads to the railways and thus help achieve the EU’s climate goals for the transport sector by 2030.

In close cooperation with the market, decision-makers from the transport industry and shippers, the non-profit organisation plans to show, by means of practical examples, how to make railfreight more competitive and which innovations may be expected for the future.

Among the first companies to join the initiative are swap bodies manufacturer Wecon, platform provider Rail-Flow and digital technology specialist Nexxiot. (ben)
