SGKV: treat all modes of transport equally
Combined transport is one of the pillars of Europe's green deal for freight transport and the climate protection measures adopted by Germany's federal government. But how does one strengthen and promote combined transport?
"Not by favouring individual modes or technology but by treating all modes of transport equally," the Studiengesellschaft für den Kombinierten Verkehr (SGKV), a research institution for intermodal transport, says. For example, SGKV disagrees with the decision to extend the toll exemption for trucks with CNG and LNG propulsion systems to 2023, since it would not have the desired effect.
SGKV added that, to advance combined transport, one had to take a global view. A programme to promote all modes of transport would prevent a modal shift back to the roads and improve the environmental balance of the entire transport network, SGKV finished. (ben)
