Semitrailers accepted on Antwerp-Barcelona shuttle
From this month (February), the Hupac shuttle train service between Antwerp (Belgium) and Barcelona (Spain) is able to carry semitrailers. It is the first time that this type of loading unit is admitted on the Spanish network.
The milestone for intermodal transport was achieved after a successful test period together with the Spanish Railways Renfe and the French SNCF.
The Hupac shuttle Antwerp D Barcelona offers daily departures with attractive A-C transit times. In addition to containers and swap bodies, semitrailers with P386 codification can also be transhipped. They travel on special pocket wagons; an extra strong XL tarpaulin is required. (ben)
