Secure Chain: rollout begins third phase

Starting 1 October 2024, container cargo from Africa, the Middle East, India, and Pakistan can only be collected in the port of Rotterdam through the Secure Chain system, eliminating the use of pin codes. This marks the third phase of Secure Chain's rollout, following its implementation for Latin American cargo on 1 April and North American cargo on 1 July.

All major deep-sea shipping lines, including CMA CGM, Cosco Shipping, Evergreen, Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, Maersk, Marfret, MSC, ONE, OOCL, Yang Ming, and ZIM, are participating.

Since its launch, nearly 275,000 containers have been processed through Secure Chain, with about 950 shippers/forwarders and 800 transport companies transitioning to this secure method. The initiative aims to enhance the resilience of port logistics by ensuring secure and trustworthy container release and collection, facilitated by Portbase's port community system. (pb)
