Second of six sisters tests the water
For Evergreen, it is the second unit of its new class of ultra-large containerships (ULCV) to be recently floated out from CSSC's Hudong-Zhonghua shipyard. The vessel is part of Evergreen Line's newbuilding series.
As now has been reported, the new vessel named “Ever Aria” was floated out on 19 May while her sister ship “Ever Alot” had already been completed by the end of 2021. Altogether, the yard Hudong-Zhonghua is building six ULCVs.
Evergreen's South Korean-built A-Class ships have a capacity of 23,992 teu each while the ones built in China pass the threshold of 24,000 teu. In its recent ranking, Alphaliner placed Evergreen on the sixth place among the major carriers. The Taiwan-headquartered shipping company currently runs 200 vessels with a total capacity of more than 1.5 million teu. (sh)
