Second-largest freight volume for Linz Airport
With exactly 55,429 t, Linz Airport achieved its second-best annual result in the air cargo sector last year - after the 62,200 t recorded in 2021.
Markus Achleitner, state councillor for economics, owner representative for the federal state of Upper Austria and deputy chairman of the airport's supervisory board, said: "The airport has established a very strong market position in the cargo sector and has long been Austria's largest provincial cargo airport. It was very fortunate that the airport was able to acquire the new Madrid-Linz cargo flight connection and thus Amazon Air as a new customer."
Despite the challenging economic conditions, the owner decided to continue investing in the cargo sector, thus strengthening the company's second pillar in the long term, he added. (ah)
