Sea freight and overland transport boost business
The German general cargo cooperation Cargo Line closed FY/2022 with around 13.11 million outbound shipments and a 3.3% increase in turnover to EUR 1.57 billion. The European land transport segment in particular grew by 1.3% to 3.16 million shipments.
The company’s operations in the international segment are supported by a cooperation with Leman in China, which has been in effect since March 2022. It focuses on procurement logistics by sea freight from six Chinese metropolises and, in future, other regions in the country. Once the goods arrive in the Port of Hamburg, they are transported to their European destinations via the Cargo Line network.
The successful launch of B2C Line Europe, i.e., the expansion of shipment notification to private recipients in Europe, also played a part, says Cargo Line.
For 2023, the network plans to improve efficiency by expanding digitalisation. The new Central and European hub in Niederaula (Hesse), Germany, which opened in February 2023, is helping to streamline many processes, Cargo Line adds. (ben)
