Scrubbers are the order of the day

Another contract for marine scrubbers underlines the ongoing transformation of the world's shipping fleets - and yet more business for supplier CR Ocean Engineering (Croe).

A USA-based shipping company is now retrofitting more vessels with the respective air pollution control devices. Starting with a smaller number of ships several months ago, the client has increased the number of ships with scrubbers to over 35.

All scrubbing systems will go into service this year, well in time for the full worldwide implementation of the International Maritime Association’s global sulphur cap on 1 January 2020.

Allied Shipbroking called marine scrubbing technology, the “fastest and cheapest” way to reduce harmful diesel fuel emissions to meet the stringent IMO compliance requirements for the shipping industry. (kd)
