Scandlines pleased with latest results
Scandlines achieved solid financial results in 2023, maintaining revenues and profits at 2022 levels, despite a challenging market. Revenues on its Germany–Denmark routes rose from EUR 363 million in 2022 to EUR 369 million in 2023. The company’s freight traffic declined from 2022’s top levels, and it saw a record number of leisure travellers during the peak season.
Scandlines increased investments in future-proofing its fleet and infrastructure, including fitting new centre propellers on the hybrid ferries "Berlin" and "Copenhagen" and investing in the freight ferry "Futura", which has zero direct emissions. Scandlines aims to become emission-free by 2040, with the Puttgarden–Rødby route targeted for zero emissions by 2030.
The management anticipates moderate growth in 2024, boosted by the new electric freight ferry. In leadership changes, Eric Gregoire and Mikael Koch Jensen will join the line as CEO and CFO respectively. (pb)
