Scandlines ferry on course

Construction work on Scandlines' new, zero direct emission cargo ferry is progressing according to plan. The Cemre shipyard in Turkey has now cut all the steel plates, and the 36 sections that make up the ferry are expected to be welded together and placed on the slipway by the end of next month.

When the "PR24" enters service on the Fehmarnbelt in just over a year's time, it will sail under the Danish flag and with dual crews.

Preparations are also in full swing at Scandlines' simulator in Puttgarden. In Q1/2024, a digital twin of the "PR24" will be installed there so that the crew will have enough time to practise driving the new ferry before it goes into service.

The carrier is also continuing the expansion of the two port terminals in Puttgarden and Rødby which it began in March 2023. (lh)
