SC Ports drives cargo growth
South Carolina Ports recorded an 8% increase in container volumes in July 2024 compared to the previous year, driven by peak season and regional growth. The port of Charleston moved 224,407 teu, marking the second-highest July on record.
The inland ports Greer and Dillon also saw significant growth, with combined rail moves up 19% from last year. Vehicle handling volumes however decreased, which is typical for July. SC Ports continues to be a major hub for the local economy, supporting regional and global supply chains. (pb)
