SBB sets a new course for freight traffic
The Swiss railfreight company SBB Cargo will once again be a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). The minority shareholder Swiss Combi - consisting of Planzer (40%), Camion Transport (40%), Galliker (10%) and Bertschi (10%) – is selling its 35% shareholding to SBB and becoming a strategic partner.
Alexander Muhm, currently head of SBB Real Estate, has been appointed as the new member of the management board responsible for freight transport.
With the buyback of the shares and the new leadership of the freight division, SBB intends to strengthen freight traffic and manage it from a single source. The previous head of the freight division had a coordinating role on a mandate basis and was not a member of the management board. The railfreight network will now once again be managed at SBB Group level. (ben)
